Licensing Overview
Earning your insurance license is fairly quick and straightforward, but it does take some work. Petra is helping by gathering the information here so you can find out what the requirements are for your state. Every state has different requirements for earning a license. Most require some type of prelicensing course, often online. The differences will be in the number of hours of coursework required and type of class – online, in person, or self-study. Even if you live in a state with no course requirement, such instruction is vital in preparing to pass the licensing exam. To help with that, Petra has arranged discounts from some course providers. Those links are in the downloadable document at the bottom of this page.

Overview
There are 4 major components of insurance licenses, broken into two types: Life and Health – for selling life insurance, final expense, and supplemental benefits such as cancer, heart, accident and disability policies Property and Casualty – for selling auto and home and commercial policies To sell variable products, many states require an additional certification. At Petra, we do not expect our new agents to get variable licenses. Those are not products that we focus on. Our new agents should earn their Life and Health licenses in order to begin working with clients. |
